Out & About
Having chosen Esmae House and Filey for your holiday or short break you can visit the nearby seaside towns of Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby being the furthest away at around 45 minutes by car.
Inbetween and beyond are many picturesque little fishing villages such as Robin Hoods Bay, but be aware it is a very steep incline – easy to get to but harder to walk back! Just beyond Whitby is Sandsend which is well worth a walk around. Staithes is another fishing village that time has forgotten and is very unspoilt. Runswick Bay is just breathtaking on a summer’s day and many beautiful villages inland…I could go on and on!
Then there’s Flamingo Land if you want something more than the beach for the children. Eden Camp, Sea Life Centre, The steam railway between Whitby and Pickering passing through ‘Heartbeat’ countryside. Why not stop at Goathland and have a pint in the Aidensfield Arms. These are just a few of the many attractions around this beautiful Yorkshire coast – there really is something for everyone.
There are many fine restaurants in and around Filey, not forgetting to mention the many pubs with sensibly priced menus – especially if you prefer a good pint of hand pulled beer with your meal.
Most of the traditional pubs in town have entertainment through the summer, especially at weekends. If you wish to eat in a restaurant it is advisable to book early during summer months and especially at weekends. When booking your stay we could advise and book a table for you if you require.
